When to choose a knife gate valve over a standard gate valve
A standard gate valve works well for clean fluids such as water, oil, and gas. If the media contains suspended solids, fibres, pulp, or other materials that could lodge between a standard gate and its seat, a knife gate valve is the appropriate choice. The cutting edge and simplified seat geometry are specifically designed to handle these conditions.

Body material selection
WCB carbon steel is the standard choice for general wastewater, slurry, and mining applications. Stainless steel (SS304 or SS316) is specified where corrosion resistance is required, such as chemical slurries, acidic wastewater, or food-grade applications. Pressure and temperature considerations
Knife gate valves are suited to low to moderate pressure applications. They are not recommended as a substitute for standard gate valves in high-pressure clean fluid service.
